When it comes to manly men, Derek Flint is the tops! Sauve, Sophisticated, and able to satisfy four women at the same time, Flint is a veritable dynamo. Played by that awesome actor, James Coburn, Derek Flint comes onto the screen with the dynamics and rugged looks that Coburns fine acting skills can only enhance. Back in the mid-60s, spy films were all the rage. On television was The Man From UNCLE and the early Bond films From Russia with Love and Goldfinger were doing very well at the box office. Fox's answer to this was Derek Flint. The first of the two Flint films, Our Man Flint, was released in 1966. Jerry Goldsmith, staff composer at the studio at the time, was hired to do the music. A year later, the team reunited for In Like Flint.

(1965) The evil organization galaxy has learned how to control the weather. They can send icebergs crashing into the Mediterranean and create volcanic eruptions on cue. To save the world, our man Flint must use all of his powers of deduction, destruction and, most of all, seduction to overcome the deadly Gila, galaxy's top agent. This super- gimmicked, high-style spoof of the James Bond films benefits from the suave presence of Coburn, as Flint.

The music to the movies is excellent. Goldsmith, a fantastic composer, threw everything into the works - a full orchestra plus bongos, mandolins, accordians and, electric guitars. The main theme, repeated through the course of the two scores, goes through every conceivable variation. Groovy! James Coburn was born Aug. 31, 1928. In addition to numerous movies, Mr. Coburn also established his own production companies, Panpiper and Armageddon Productions and has occasionally directed in TV and Movies. Some notable films of Mr. Coburn include: The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, Harry in Your Pocket.
